Coach’s fall 2018 Bags reflect the Season’s Moody, Dark accessories trends So far
April 25, 2023First, a caveat: new York fashion Week’s accessories trends often don’t end up materializing into market-wide phenomenons, once the Milan and Paris shows are said and done. That’s where the heavyweights show their accessories, and what they say, goes. For new York’s crop of mostly contemporary handbag brands, though, some patterns definitely emerged. first Kate Spade got a little brooding, which I never thought I’d say about that brand in particular, and now it’s Coach‘s turn to get dark for fall 2018.
The runway show, which featured both men’s and women’s collections, felt like it was held in a forest after dark, and the fringe and detailing often felt like it was attempting to pay homage to native American aesthetic traditions without being baldly appropriative. The collection did so with varying levels of success, but it did feel like a natural evolution of designer Stuart Vevers’s ongoing fascination with the American West.
The most notable coach bag debut for fall is the Dreamer Bag, an east-west satchel which wasn’t super abundant on the runway, but will nonetheless be a big push for the brand. You can check out the runway bags below or shop a selection of the new Dreamer Bags immediately via Coach. It starts at $350 and currently comes in two sizes.
